Online marketing in Korea. Brief review

First of all it should be highlighted that Koreans share everything online. It is needed because korean consumers believe their fellow people and opinions.  


Korean specifics in online marketing are different than Global platforms.

About 75% of korean use Naver as a search engine, Google is used only by 9% and the other is 2% accordingly (PC and Mobile searches both included).


The Chairman of NAVER is Lee HaeJin, born in 1967, graduated Seoul National University, Master of Computer Engineering. 

Naver was launched in 1999, it is TOP search engine in Korea. Blog service was launched in 2003. 



I suppose that almost 98% of Koreans have account in Naver. If you are making a business in Korea and want to make online marketing YOU SHOULD register your company details with Naver. Naver is very convenient to use as you understand the system because it is very systematic and logical. Search results is optimized and divided on web-sites, blogs, news, specialized information, videos and etc. 



   Keyword search criteria changes depending on word. It is important to be in the TOP 10 of the SEARCH. 


Naver is also has other sections as Naver Cafe, Naver Encyclopedia, Maps, Images, Blogs, Naver Knowledge, APPs. 





Other options are Kakao and Daum but it has less popularity in Korea. Daum also provides blogs, cafes. 


For instance Kakao Driver service is principally used in Korea. 


34-years old Rim Ji-Hoon new CEO of Kakao. Like Line and Chinese WeChat Kakao Talk contains a number of stickers and games. Kakao Talk is available for all mobile platforms and can be downloaded for free.  

Kakao is listed on Korean Stock Exchange. 


Total population of Korea is 50.4 m, among them Internet users are equal 45.3m, social media users is 38.4 m. (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube). 



It is 74% of Korean internet users use YOUTUBE. The global platforms are growing in popularity very fast.
